Thanks to Maureen for sending this reminder for voting in Waterford:

Waterford Voting Precinct Boundaries Changes

Dear Registered Voter, Effective February 9, 2018, most precinct boundaries were changed in Waterford. The number of precincts was changed from 29 precincts to 21 precincts. Several circumstances drove this change:

  • As the number of students in Waterford decreases schools are being closed and that reduces the number of locations that qualify as polling places.

  • With fewer precincts to staff for each election the payroll for elections is reduced, saving the Township money at a time when the budget is tight.

  • It has becoming increasingly difficult to find people willing to work at the polls as Election Inspectors. Even though the pay increased as the minimum wage increased, the number of people who are available to work at the polls has decreased. If you are interested in serving your community by working at the polls please contact my office.

With these changes we are still below the maximum number of voters per precinct but you may experience longer lines at peak times, such as first thing in the morning and in the evening after work. I encourage all who qualify to apply for an Absentee Ballot and avoid the lines altogether. And for those of you who will be voting at the polls, consider going at off peak times during the day. This will be an issue during Presidential Elections more so than during Primary Elections or Mid-term Elections. Your new Voter ID card was mailed out in February with your new polling location. You can also confirm your precinct location at www.mi.gov/vote. If you have any questions, please contact my office at 248-674-6266. Precinct boundaries and polling locations can be found on the Clerk's website at: www.waterfordmi.gov/158/Voting-Precincts-Locations Waterford Township Sue Camilleri, Clerk
