This years Jayno Heights July 4th Parade Grand Marshall is 46-year resident, Donna Kowalski. Donna moved to Jayno Heights with her husband, Micky in October of 1978. Donna says she and Micky were just out driving around going to garage sales and they happened to come across the house at 2986 Shawnee Lane that was for sale. They decided to look at it, ended up liking it, and decided to buy it. They moved from their home in Sterling Heights and have lived here ever since.
Donna worked at General Motors for almost 36 years, as a clerk and then an Administrative Assistant. She has also volunteered at the Waterford Senior Center doing taxes for AARP for around 20 years. She stopped doing taxes two years ago and now volunteers by making phone calls and anything else they need during tax season.
Donna also volunteers her time by serving on the JaynoHeights HOA board for ten years. She has been Vice President of the HOA and is currently a trustee. She also serves on the safety committee and heads up the neighborhood garage sale.
She loves the neighborhood because of the friendliness of the neighbors and their willingness to help each other.
She was surprised and honored to be chosen as this years Grand Marshall.
If you go by her house on a warm summer night, you might see her sitting outside her garage. She loves to talk to neighbors, so just stop by and say hi if you see her out.
She hopes to see everyone either in the parade on the fourth or watching at their homes!
